SLEEP:
In Acts 12 we read the story of King Herod putting Peter in prison so he could later put him to death. He did this for the positive reviews. King Herod had received positive feedback from putting James (brother of John) to death. So he wanted to kill more "Christians". But due to the holiday's (feast of unleavened bread) the King placed Peter in jail to wait for his execution.
DISBELIEF:
While Peter slept an angel woke him, and lead him out of the jail and to a place he recognized. Peter then ran to the house of many Christians who where praying for his release from prison. When he knocked on the door they did not believe he was there, for even though they were praying for his release they did not believe it would happen.
DEATH:
King Herod put the guards who "allowed" peter's escape to death. And later just before he was to give a kingly decree the crowd that was gathered to hear him said this is "the voice of a god, not of a man". Herod, loving the praise, received these words instead of giving Glory to God and then instantly received death.
"But the Word of God increased and multiplied" (Acts 12:24)
Despite sleeping Christians, Disbelieving Christians, and the best efforts of earthly kings. God's word is increasing, and it is changing the world. Acts 12 is a reminder that our situation and efforts whether good our bad can not prevent God's work from being done.
Go, be free, Serve THE King! For the battle is HIS, and He will WIN!
